In order to help English learners succeed academically, it is essential that educators develop an appreciation of the demographic dimensions, cultural changes, educational outcomes, an academic needs of the English learner population.  In this course, we explore the condition of EL education in the U.S.  We begin by exploring the definition of an English learner and then review the demographic trends and educational outcomes of U.S. ELs.
